Before its accredidation, the school was run by a non-profit that provides social support to at-risk youth. Answer: The Harvey Milk School in New York, founded by the Hetrick Martin Institute. The two still share quarters.
2. Question: Name this state. The first high school gay-straight alliance was founded here in 1988. The first public school gay-straight alliance was also founded here. Answer: Massachusetts. Kevin Jennings, founder of GLSEN, started the first GSA at Concord Academy. Robert Parlin started the first public school GSA at Newton South High School, also in a Boston suburb.
