It’s the Jewish High Holidays season. How many of these LGBT Jews who have made important contributions to the community can you name ?
1. Question: Name this Pulitzer-Prize winning Jewish playwright and screenwriter. His most famous play (which was adapted into a successful film) returns to Broadway this month. He’s known for his film about an Olympic massacre, an adaptation of a Yiddish classic, and an autobiographical musical about growing up in Louisiana.
2. Question: Name this Jewish professional tennis player, author, and doctor, who was denied entry into the US Open when she came out as transgender. The New York Supreme Court ruled in her favor, which was a landmark decision in favor of transgender rights. .
3. Question: Name this our Jewish photographer who first made a splash photographing celebrity musicians for Rolling Stone. She later moved on to Vanity Fair. Her work has been exhibited internationally. In 2007, she photographed Queen Elizabeth II in the stylish portfolio she’s used for movie stars, culture makers, and celebrities.
